Warmer Weather, Better Mood, Newfound Motivation

Posted by Valencia on March 7th, 2009

Virginia weather is crazy. Just a few days ago we had record lows (18 degrees in the sunlight), and a dusting of snow. This weekend they predicted 70 degree temperatures through Monday, and we may even hit 80 degrees on Sunday. Even if warm weather is temporary and temperatures drop again, I feel so good at this moment.

There’s something about spring weather that improves my mood and outlook on everything. I’ve never been medically diagnosed with an anxiety or depression problem. But judging from my history, I think I have seasonal affective disorder. Once darkness and cold hits, I’m tired, unmotivated and my anxiety level goes through the roof. But somewhere between the end of March and mid-April….it all goes away.

The thought of late-Spring temperatures, accompanied with the start of Daylight savings time this weekend, has me on a mental high. Right now, I feel more motivated than I have in months, and I want to take on the world. I love working under these conditions. My energy increases, and I’m able to get so much done. And since I’ve declared 2009, “the year to focus on my personal writing projects,” I’m going to revel in my newfound motivation and throw myself into creative writing and polishing my manuscripts.

The weather can change any minute, as can my motivation…. I have to take advantage of these good moments.
