Hi Tenea,
Thanks for stopping by! There are several ways to get started in freelance writing...but here's what I did. I drafted about three or four good writing samples, created a short two-paragraph cover letter highlighting my niches, experience and education; and then I hit the online freelance writing job boards - hard. I write mostly for the web, but I have a few pieces published in print publications. These markets are harder to break into, but well worth the payout. If this is the route you want to go, grab a copy of Writer's Market and start querying publications. The biggest mistake I made in my early online writing days was accepting low-paying assignments...but I quickly came to my senses. Hope this helps! :-)

I am just getting into freelance writing. I really like your blogs here and would love to get your input on how to go about this. I have been writing since I was a child. I started with poetry, moved onto lyrics and am currently writing my first novel. I am hoping that having wlaready traveled the road that I am on you may be able and willing to offer invaluable tips that will hopefully help me bypass some of the inherent pitfalls. i look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
