Working in a Messy Office

Posted by Valencia on October 8th, 2008

I think I need to find a new workspace in my house. We have a home office, but lately, it’s become the junk office. My husband doesn’t work from home, but he might as well. The main desk is constantly covered with his paperwork, bills, books, etc. And I’m constantly moving his stuff and placing them in piles along the side of the desk. As I look around, 90% of the stuff in this room belongs to him. And why he needs all this stuff is beyond me.

This has always been a problem for me. He’ll clean the office once or twice  a week. But it doesn’t last. Within a day or two, the office is in the same condition. Even though this room is supposed to be designated for work, he’s turned it into his own personal space - which is fine. We painted the room a soothing color, there’s a chair, cable television, and a big window that let’s in a lot of light - it’s a cozy space - which is why I prefer to work in there. But, I can’t concentrate with piles of stuff around me.

We have to come up with a new arrangement. If not, I might have to kick him out.
